A Place Called Williford Town: A Collection of Childhood Memories

A Place Called Williford Town is a collection of childhood memories primarily from the 1950’s and 1960’s. Williford Town is the neighborhood in the southwestern area of Rocky Mount, North Carolina. Rudy Hoggard captures his youth with each chapter reliving thoughts of the old oak tree, fishing with his Dad, the park, the big front porch, the church, his brother Steve’s traumatic automobile wreck, the neighbors and the school fire. Each experience is an icon in his life. *Why was her Grandmother buried outside the fence at the family cemetery? *Two sons dead at birth and a third at a young age, what doubts and fears touched their lives as parents? *He then asked one of the most important questions in life. “Where do you stand, on man’s side or God’s side? “Papa, will you tell me about a place called Williford Town?”
