What the Cold Night Holds

For almost three years since the tragedy, Steve has been dragging himself through life making ends meet as a prescription (and sometimes conventional) drug dealer to both the dregs at the edges of society as well as the white-collar elite of Pittsburgh. He escapes the past and his own thoughts by insulating himself with a chemical wall built by the products he purveys, and never thinks about the future beyond the next deal...all while being stalked by a disfigured woman with nothing but bitter memories crushed into her body and burned into her soul. Then Steve meets Deb. She is a woman who has suffered the greatest loss in the most evil way and cannot endure the endless grief. She needs that same chemical solace. Only she could possibly understand Steve's pain, and only Steve could even begin to know hers. Slowly that bond of anguish purifies to one of love. As Steve dares to forgive himself and even hope for a normal life, the Steel City’s underbelly slowly starts to pull him deeper. But Steve's smart, he can feel it, and he can see the possibilities with Deb. He retires. But life won't let Steve off that easy when Deb gets pregnant, the stalking evolves into attempted murder, and a local mob boss blackmails Steve into being his hit man.
