Description ▲
Pastors are trained to preach, but very few missionaries are ever trained to preach in a way that the native people of the target culture understand what they are trying to communicate. This book is intended for use in Bible schools and in missionary training institutes to help give missionaries the tools they need to prepare sermons that touch hearts and communicate appropriately across cultural divides. Whether someone is an experienced preacher or still a novice, the helpful and practical advice will help all preachers communicate more clearly. This was written by Dr David Packer, a 30+ year veteran of cross-cultural missionary preaching. He has taught preaching courses at seminaries in the Philippines, Singapore, and Germany, and for the past 20+ years he has pastored large international churches overseas, where weekly he addresses a multinational congregation. He has preached cross-culturally more than 3,000 times in churches on four continents. This book is a practical guide for preaching cross-culturally and comes from his experience as a preacher and teacher, and a cross-cultural missionary. Dr Packer is originally from Dallas, Texas, and has his M Div (77) and D Min (88) degrees from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary, with a focus in World Missions.
