Bay Chapel

Her mother never intended that her only child would be placed in the care of others. Unfortunately her dependency on drugs and alcohol did that for her. Bay Chapel went from home, to state facility, to home again—never losing the love for her only parent. Relentless fighting by her grandmother Ruthie, and Sonny her uncle, combined with the governor of Maine cutting the budget of adolescent detention, has the girl returning to her island home. Old friends and new enemies battle while Bay tries to move forward with her life. Traveling to the new high school on the mainland creates challenges no one could have imagined. How does a girl with her background even try to fit in? After a number of attempts, offending clique after clique, she’s left with field hockey, a sport Bay has never played. Little does she know the game has the power to connect her to her friends, her community, and most importantly—her family.
