Field of Grasshoppers

From the author: Am I a truth seeker or a religion keeper? That had become my internal question. Over the years, nothing has kept me from the deeper universal truths more than my own stubborn doctrinal certainties and simple lack of self-honesty. I did not want to be wrong, I did not want my pastor to be wrong, and I did not want my church denomination to be wrong. I wanted that old time religion to be unquestionable. For so long, I was afraid of even considering some of the more progressive philosophies of our time, not for fear of being sucked into the evil abyss, but because of what I might find and where that might lead. I began to realize that trying to answer the same old questions wasn’t as important as seriously questioning the same old answers. This book is not about challenging the validity of people’s experiences with the Divine, but offering an unapologetic questioning of religion’s definitions and explanations of those experiences.
