Saving An American Treasure: The Story of Vista House

Listed on the National Register of Historic Places and selected for inclusion in Save America’s Treasures is testimony to the significance of Vista House at Crown Point, Oregon. This book tells the story of the genesis of the building, the movers and shakers who made it happen, the disputes between the players, and the unique architectural design. It begins in 1915 and continues through to the current day, describing the deterioration from use and weather that almost destroyed the “crown” of the Columbia River Highway. The forty-plus black and white photographs help convey why Vista House is a legacy to all of us and to future generations.
