Description

The Asian assassins started trying to kill Jake Harper, a retired commercial airplane inspector, one day in the fall. He had no idea why. They wouldn’t stop. Every year in the beginning of October. The Pentagon and the government showed up after the first one and wanted to talk to Jake about a secret OP that he’d pulled over forty years ago for the military. It seemed that the 1996 declassification of Vietnam documents by the Clinton administration had shone light on something called CB-1 Cobra. The OP had only three names attached to it. The head of all civilian agencies in that war, the head of all the military - and Jake. The lady claimed that the file was sealed so tight that she and her boss could not access it. Could Jake help them out? Jake smelled trouble on several levels. Jake was positive that he didn’t possess anything that would prompt these kinds of actions, yet when he became irritated with the whole mess and fought back, well . . . that’s when it all went seriously sideways. Now it was not only the Asians but, his own government that were coming after him. With his two German shepherds, a female ex-military lover, and an outraged ‘posse’ of friends, Jake and the “Starborough Swat” battle a conspiracy over forty years in the making. The killers had chosen the wrong man to mess with. This one was Old School and had skills.
