Description

Gin-Ryu
Is the Saga of Life
Written and created by disabled veteran Grandmaster Soke Stephen J. Egged

Gin-Ryu is more than just a sword. It is a literary tool used by the writer to tell stories about various types of people. A vigilante, a museum curator a gang member each can have their individual story experienced while still being connected in some manner. That is why Gin-Ryu is the saga of life.

For some, life is a quest for power; for others, life is a struggle for survival; for many, life is endless pain; and for a few, life is justice all are parts of the human condition.  Defenselessness against external forces causes many to succumb to the pressures of others.  Gin-Ryu shows how one life blends into another.  It is not a person but rather an ancient Katana, forged over a thousand years ago.  The name is Japanese and it means silver dragon.  As it passes from one hand to another, a story is told and a life is examined.  At times the exchange is without fanfare, while others require a more extreme circumstance.  Regardless of the stage of events, a human's life is experienced through the possession of the sword.  Gin-Ryu is the saga of life.

Gin-Ryu Things Considered takes place a year after the events of Gin-Ryu Vigilant Effort. Gin-Ryu gets donated to the Detroit Institute of Arts for their new samurai exhibit. When preparing the sword for the exhibit the curator in charge is attacked and it is stolen by a street gang. Meanwhile a monk from Gin-Ryu temple, where it was originally stolen, gets closer to getting his hands on the sword in hopes of returning it to where it belongs. The gang leader attempts to use Gin-Ryu to rally what's left of his members, in preparation for the street war brewing between to two largest gangs. The mercenary known as the Trickster offers to help the gang win the war in exchange for Gin-Ryu. After all is said and done he presents the sword to the Broker as he is was originally commissioned to do.  Gin-Ryu is the saga of life.
