The Leavenworth Case is Anna K. Green’s first novel. It predates the first appearance of Sherlock Holmes by nine years, yet it feels much more modern. Although it bears the romantic sentimentalism of its time, the story is imbued with never seen before detection mastery. In 1936, it was made into a movie with Donald Cook, Jean Rouverol, and Norman Foster directed by Lewis D. Collins. It was also adapted in PHOTOPLAY magazine.
