As the owner of independent business Winning Windows, Nathan Perkins has always insisted on providing customers with the highest-quality product—all while fending off competition from big box stores and mega manufacturers. But as the waning economy takes its toll, Nathan’s business is struggling. Dealing with cut hours and renegotiated costs and benefits, his employees’ morale is at an all-time low, and sales have taken a downward turn. When Nathan walks into Seven Coins Coffee one morning, he expects to leave with a hot cup of joe—but he ends up with so much more. Running into coffee shop owner Annette Florence, he is inspired by her dedication to creating authentic, honest relationships with customers and vendors—and her ability to attract business despite competition from a nearby giant coffee chain.
