Description

Harry is a 25 year old man who watches the world fall apart around him as though he is just an observer and yet he is expected to love, procreate and rebuild with the few that remain. Following Harry for the 257 days from the 6th of July we come to see that his real struggle does not lie in overcoming escaped convicts, starvation or carnivorous organs rather it comes in the form of establishing his sense of self and his attitude towards others. Fuelled by cigarettes and alcohol, Harry drowns out what he doesn't care for, obsesses over his contemptuous self and searches for what he perceives as the profound human experience. Ballantine was a prolific member of the Terrance Farmer Society which meets to share ideas, writings and art on matters of an ethereal nature. His ideas often transcended that of the group, bringing with them a sense of logic and grim realism that the human mind so desperately clambers out for. The first of his stories has now been published to be shared and enjoyed by the general public for the first time.
