Description

The very foundation upon which our modern, technological, industrial and entertainment fuelled existence is standing, is completely eroding beneath our feet. Under the arduous weight of failing systems, collapsing beliefs and crumbling dogmas it seems that the hollow, profit oriented direction we are blindly traversing is leading us into calamity and destruction, spiritually as well as physically. The world within which we live is controlled in large part by the lust for greed, power and control. It is us that consistently pay the bill for the perpetuation of such malicious, insidious and sinister ideologies that ultimately only serve to further damage the quality of our species as well as our planet. We ignorantly contribute in foolish subservience to an elitist agenda that stimulates only the most negative impulses of human nature; we are all representatives of a global regime that advocates murder, piracy, rape of the planet, control of the general populous and loss of morality. We are devoted to our way of life because we are conditioned and initiated into its embrace by the very people we revere, and although liberation from its grip is painful, arduous and fraught with difficulties, its inevitable abandonment could not be more necessary. We view our lives, indeed our very existence with eyes wide shut, and struggle immeasurably to conceptualize and process the notion of a complete societal transformation/ a spiritual metamorphosis/ a re-evaluation of traditions and cultural conditions/ beliefs and ideas of what it is, and what it means to be alive and human- existing within a system that is inherently and fundamentally flawed, simply because of the comforts provided by the gratification illusion of acquisition, and the intoxicating but meaningless allure of materialism. At present, we are hurtling uncontrollably into the abyss at terrifying speeds; we are being ushered in hopeless and fruitless directions where such notions of providence, altruism and peace appear as foolhardy desires of a romantic mind, unattainable and unsustainable ideals especially considering the gravity, pace and purposes of modern life. Escaping Metropolis seeks to traverse the scuppered anomaly of the present human condition that seems to exist in a state of perpetual hopelessness; this book looks to reconnect our species to spirit, to consciousness in an attempt to reignite the verve of evolution so as to bring our race back to the sphere of all understanding, of ultimate perception. This book advocates the belief, that in highly visionary and perceptive (alternative) states of consciousness we can achieve the levels of understanding, wisdom and sensitivity necessary for real political, social, economic and religious reform; a reform that benefits the multitudes and not the few, a reform that places the progression and longevity of humanity at the core of its motivation opposed to money, a reform that recognizes all life as sacred, that welcomes steady, gradual change building a power and momentum to eventually completely abandon the failings of this current system introducing a replacement that is beneficial, sustainable and desirable for the evolution of our species and the planet. It is an examination of the innate spark of divinity that resides deep within us, that calls out above and beyond the confines of the concrete provincial prison and claustrophobic prescribed consensus in its longing for re-connection to truth, it is an investigation into a realm of history and reason that may offer us the answers to life’s most fundamental questions: this book is an analysis of a concept, the concept that we have truly forgotten who we are and ultimately, as a species, as a global community, where we are going?
