When I first became a believer I had a difficult time living for the Lord because there was so much I did not understand. I did not realize that I was a three part being and that when I gave my life to Jesus only one part of me experience immediate change, my spirit. According to our Lord Jesus that which is born of the Spirit is spirit. (John 3:1-6) However nothing happened with my mind nor my flesh. And I learned that I was responsible to get my mind renewed with the Word and bring my body under subjection with the help of the Holy Spirit. (Romans 12: 1-2) Because I did not first understand these things I struggled. And there are many believers who are struggling in the walk with the Lord today. Perhaps you are one of them.
