When Given an Avocado Make Guacamole

I have been traveling to Mexico since 1981, living in Mexico since 1994 part-time and from 1999 full-time. I have traveled throughout Mexico by bus, plane and car. I have made many and difficult crossings both into the U.S. and back to Mexico. I have owned homes or rented in Ajijic, San Juan Cosala, San Miguel de Allende, and Baja California. I have felt, since my very first visit to Mexico, that Mexico would be my true country. I always compared it thereafter to every one of the 73 countries I have visited. In 1981 I fell asleep on top of the sacrificial altar at the Uxmal temple outside of Merida in Chichen-Itza, and woke to a solar flare with the words coming out of my mouth, “I am home.” For me it is important to give back to my host country or home country with good news and information about it to entice others to move or visit here. I wrote my first book, A Single Gringa in Mexico and published it in 2012 and my second book Mexico a Sunny Place for Shady Men in 2014.
