From Groningen to Ogden: The Story of Jacob and Geessien Boekweg Kap (Volume 1)

On June 17, 1907, Jacob and Geessien Boekweg Kap and their seven youngest children boarded the S.S. Republic at the port of Rotterdam. The ship would take them from their homeland of Holland to begin a new life in Ogden, Utah. The couple’s two oldest sons were already in Utah, along with dozens of members of the extended Kap and Boekweg families. Their two oldest daughters eventually joined them in Utah, reuniting the family of 14 once again. The motivator for the family’s move was their membership in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, for which they sacrificed all they had. This is their story.
