Starflight: Book 3 of the Wizards of Mars (Volume 3)

This book takes place about 220 years in the future. The solar system and the inner and outer Oort Cloud has been explored and with the development of what is called a black hole gravity well maneuver where a space craft deliberately allows itself to be drawn into an artificially created black hole in deep space and veers off before being absorbed by the event horizon, travel between stars is possible. While being drawn to the black hole the space craft accelerates to 50% to 80% the speed of light. In this book the first trip has been made and now the stars within 10 light years are explored. It also uses neutronium from a neutron star to mix with normal metals to form gravity plates that give 1g gravity in zero gravity space. It is sort of a fantasy/technical book but still an enjoyable read, a soap opera!
