Sawdust Fair Dinkum

This is the story of a boy's adventures with the circus, from the building of a clown car to performing as a clown with camels. He travels with his grandfather who encourages him both in and out of trouble. One instance is when the boy climbs out on the tongue of a trailer only to have the trailer come loose and rocket down a mountain road. After more such adventures the show travels to Australia. On the way they lose the camels in a storm. When they reach Australia, the boy sets off with a midget clown and an Australian girl in the clown car to catch wild camels to replace the ones lost. They run into bandits, dust storms and a town that gets broken up when they take a string of camels through it. In the end they get back to the circus just in time. The girl takes over the act and joins the show.
