Making Urban Revolution in China: The CCP-GMD Struggle for Beiping-Tianjin, 1945-1949 (Studies on Contemporary China)

Chapter 1 shows the experiences of the Communists. Chapter 2 is a brief survey of the military history and the national and international levels of the Chinese Civil War. Chapter 3 analyzes the North China dimension of the GMD-CPP conflict. Chapter 4 is a profile of Beiping and Tianjin as urban environments for political struggle. Chapter 5 is the core of the study: the university and school setting where the CCUP from 1945-1948 battled for the support of this key urban constituency through a series of student protests. Chapter 6 is concerned with other urban arenas, primarily the labor movement and sectors such as government, business, and telecommunications. Chapter 7 is a chronological narrative of the last six months of the CCP-GMD struggle.
