Standards for Immunohematology Reference Laboratories, 7th edition

The seventh edition of Standards for Immunohematology Reference Laboratories relies on a matrix of quality management system and detailed operational requirements, such as those defining minimum antisera resources.

Significant changes to the seventh edition include:

A new whistleblower standard, which requires that facilities inform their employees that concerns about safety or quality can be communicated to executive management and to AABB.
A new standard requiring that facilities have a policy for the use of red cell genotype information obtained by molecular methods.
