These words from the famous musical, "Oklahoma!" describe the basis for the feelings of most people—they can be happy and rejoice when things are going their way, but not in all cases and conditions. In this book, the English Puritan Robert Asty reminds us that we are to rejoice in the Lord Jesus no matter what the circumstances are in which the Lord may place us.

We place too high a premium on the condition of our bodies, and therefore place too low a premium on the salvation of our souls. But the Apostle Paul commands believers to rejoice in all things. The Lord Jesus is the ground of joy, says Asty, if we have a saving interest in Christ. As in so many Puritan writings, this book contains an abundance of encouragement and hope for believers.

This book also contains two sermons that have not been included in any modern reprints. The sermons are on Colossians 1:5 and Romans 8:1.
