Ceramic Matrix Composites are enabling materials for a number of demanding applications in aerospace, power generation, ground transportation, nuclear, environmental, and chemical industries for which tough behavior is required at elevated temperatures in aggressive environments. Substantial progress has been made in technology development, manufacturing, commercialization, and applications of these materials over the last two decades. However, significant challenges still remain for their wide scale applications worldwide. This conference proceedings provides a forum for the discussion of issues and opportunities in the area of high temperature ceramic matrix composites and will contribute to a better future through more efficient, economical and environmentally benign power and transportation systems.
