Pressing Toward the Prize: My Odyssey of Faith

Growing up on a farm in New York State, Joyce Engdahl Evans couldn’t know that God would use her to change lives and win souls for Him both in the United States and abroad. Yet that’s what He did through Joyce and her husband, Vernon Evans. The young couple met at Nyack Missionary Training Institute and traveled to Europe and Africa in missionary service. Life abroad was challenging and rewarding, but some of Joyce’s biggest challenges—and rewards—occurred after she and Vernon returned to serve in the United States. Sorrow over their childlessness turned to joy when they adopted two wonderful children. Faith and family life, complete with change, difficulty, triumphs, and hope, sustained Joyce and Vernon through years of service for the Lord, and even now, keep her pressing toward the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus.
