Description

The Flower Mound is the namesake of Flower Mound, Texas. It is a natural formation located in North Central Texas, southern Denton County and thirty miles north of Dallas-Ft Worth. Nineteenth century settlers named it for the profusion of wildflowers that grow there every spring. The Mound was saved from the plow and developers and in 1982 was set aside forever as a native prairie preserve. The Mound is managed by The Mound Foundation, a nonprofit Board of Trustees whose mission is to preserve the Mound and to sponsor works of scientific, educational and historic interest. Twenty dollars ($20) from each sale of this book go to maintaining and preserving The Flower Mound as a pristine native Black Land Prairie.
