Description

A conspiracy to deny people basic freedoms--of the press, speech, assembly, etc. are denied and a woman is imprisoned without due process. Sound like a fairy tale? Written before 2000, before 9/11, the story is eerily predictive of what happened in the next decade.
The extreme religious right deserts the GOP and forms the own party, called the GOD party.Their leader runs for president.
At the same time, a woman is imprisoned secretly and not allowed contact with family or due process through the courts. Somehow, she starts a most unusual protest movement. Protesters hold lilacs and signs - each sign containing one random word. Momentum builds across the country.
The forces of repression and the protest for freedom of expression reach to a crisis, which is both griping, and eventually hopeful.
