Traditional interpretations of Parmenides are often the result of filtering highly metaphorical language through the prism of paradoxical mirrors designed by his most prominent disciple, Zeno of Elea. According to such interpretations the perception of time is but an illusion which follows from our phenomenally misleading perceptions of plurality and motion.
