Written in response to some marital one-upmanship, The Whip Angels by "xxx" (Diane Bataille) proved for all time that Mrs. Bataille, wife of ths librarian and novelist Georges Bataille, could produce erotic works at least as well as her husband. The Whip Angels is the journal of impossibly young Victoria, and concerns her indoctrination into a dark sexual underground. Victoria receives a harsh schooling at the hands of incestuous guardians--lessons in submission, cruelty, dominance, with little Victoria forced to keep a journal of it all. One of Olympia's best-sellers, this work eclipsed the circulation of her husband.
