Grades 8-10. Essentially a complete teacher's manual for the novel, this LitPlan Teacher Pack includes lesson plans and reproducible resource materials for The Catcher in the Rye. It includes: 17 Daily Lessons Short answer study questions Multiple choice quiz questions Vocabulary worksheets for each reading assignment 3 detailed writing assignments Individual and group activities Critical thinking discussion questions 5 unit tests (2 short answer, 2 multiple choice, 1 advanced) Evaluation forms Review puzzles & games Bulletin board ideas Reproducible student materials And more! A Note About A Few Of The Many Different Assignments Included: There are three writing assignments in this unit, each with the purpose of informing, persuading, or expressing personal opinions. The detailed writing assignment sheets guide students through the assignments. The first assignment is to express personal opinions: students tell about the person they would most want to be like. The second assignment is to inform: students introduce their characters for the character project, set up the scene they will be performing, and also write a post-performance conclusion. The third assignment is to persuade: students persuade Holden that everyone is not a "phony." There is also a project assignment which is to choose a person (either the person from Writing Assignment #1 or someone else), study that person (learn his/her mannerisms, clothing style, speech patterns/accents, really everything about him/her), and create a five minute presentation to perform in front of the class.
