Description

Why must two people die after medical records are stolen from a secure area in the University Hospital? Robert C. Jackson, M.D., a board certified obstetrician and gynecologist has authored this novel which champions Dr. Elizabeth Campbell, the Chief of Obstetrics and Gynecology at University Hospital, as the strong willed protagonist. A major philosophical clash between the medical and legal professions becomes obvious when Bill Young, Dr. Campbell's Chief Resident, is accused of malpractice in the death of a baby during delivery. A verdict of guilty is obtained by a very clever malpractice attorney, a verdict at odds with the facts as brought out in court by specialists who defended Dr. Young. The following morning Dr. Young is found dead in his car, a car filled with carbon monoxide poisoning. Doctor Campbell leads an investigation which finds two very prominent members of the hospital staff have been stealing hospital charts and selling them to the malpractice attorney. ABOUT THE AUTHOR: Robert C. Jackson, M.D., FACOG, is a retired specialist in obstetrics and gynecology and lives in Salem, Oregon. His many years in the private practice of his specialty gives him the background and experience to author Malpractice. He has lived through the era when abortion was illegal and a very hazardous procedure when attempted by untrained personnel. The U.S. Supreme Court in a settlement known as Roe V Wade changed this in January of 1973, though considerable political and religious opposition remain to this day.
