He was in trouble, and Qay-R knew it. He was hurtling through hyperspace at an unknown speed, and to an unknown destination. A glancing blow from a Croton fighter’s laser fire had caused his ship’s computer system into shutdown, and at the same time threw him into hyperspace without first being programmed for its reentry point. It might have saved his life, for his ship was no match for the firepower of that Croton fightership. However, jumping into hyperspace without first doing a series of intense computations could have you coming back into normal space in the middle of a star or a planet, among other undesirable possibilities.
