Bone Tear: A Love Story

Set in eighth century Great Britain, Bone Tear: A Love Story brims with conflict, love, murder, sex, betrayal and magick as the king decides to strengthen his position against the Vikings and power-hungry vassals by getting Bridget, his younger daughter, married. The naive Bridget is terrified of having a child and only wants to join a nearby convent. Her sociopathic and married sister, Celestine, is desperate to bear the next heir. Bridget’s proposed husband is Vortimer. Battle weary, he is plagued by nightmares of slain comrades and his own close brushes with death. They dislike each other immediately and Bridget seeks advice from Celestine, who seethes at the thought of their union. The principals are flawed yet have elements of nobility in their character as the dynamics of the story unfolds. There are no dazzling palaces or knights in shining armor—the reality is far more brutal and unforgiving as they struggle against foes, family and famine.
