Description

The summer of 1973 in Jasper, Alabama, resumes for Tamika, Tory, and Douggie as the trio become wrapped up in the daily activities planned by Aunt Fran, and Grandma and Grandpa Stokes. Their interactions with Big Momma and the spirited ghost of their great-great grandmother, Sally B. Lipscomb, affectionately known as G’Momma, merely intensify their summer adventure. While innocently focusing on their desire to have fun, the trio is quickly forced to confront challenges in love. Tamika has never had to deal with a person who dislikes her without cause until Angie Dripp. Tory has never experienced feelings for a girl as he does Mary Lou Lane, and Douggie is faced with convincing others that although his friend Randolph Hines is “special” he is “normal.” Together G’Momma and Big Momma are obliged to teach the trio that there is much to learn about love. Through the wisdom of the elders and by way of G’Momma’s time travel, Tamika, Tory, Douggie and Big Momma explore the plight of the African American nurse and the meaning of love.
