The link is a fictional guardian angel named Tobin, assigned by Archangel Gabriel to care for Jesus. The author imagines Tobin to be the same angel who, in the Bible, removes the stone from the tomb of Jesus following his crucifixion. In this story, Tobin is far more than that. He stays with Jesus from the night of his birth until his boyhood. Then, per God's plan, Tobin must courageously let go of Jesus and allow God's plan to unfold. The story begins with the birth of Jesus in Bethlehem and concludes with his resurrection from the tomb near Jerusalem, with Tobin removing the stone from the entrance to the tomb. Young readers will learn about Jesus Christ, his birth, his death and resurrection from the angel who knew and loved him. Author Sandy Rucinski has a master's degree in Education. She is the author of the Alfred books, a series of parenting books. Her inspiration for Tobin's story came from her religion, her teaching career, her love of storytelling and her curiosity about the angel at Jesus' tomb. The author lives in Wisconsin with her Westie, McDuff. Illustrator Jack Rucinski is a decorative painter and muralist specializing in pre-modern styles. Having lived in Japan and New Zealand, he resides in Wisconsin.
