Stories for Anastasia is a collection of essays that were written to entertain the author's young niece, who spent a lot of time in and out of hospitals. The essays are nonfiction but are written in a light and humorous style that illustrates the value of taking the time to find interest and excitement in everyday events. Maria K. is a first-generation Russian-Ukrainian immigrant who comes from a long line of storytellers. She grew up hearing wonderful stories of life, history, and events from her grandfather and other relatives. Maria brings her family's talent for weaving engaging tales into her writings. Born and raised in Zaporozhye, Ukraine, Maria came to the United States as an impressionable 19-year-old exchange student in 1994. She earned her Bachelors and Masters degrees in Mechanical Engineering at Rochester Institute of Technology and now lives in Kings Mountain, North Carolina, with her husband Gerry and their pets.
