The Fairies of Tythian

In the mythical world of Tythian, creatures abound that are capable of Herculean tasks, such as the legendary roc, an enormous bird of prey able to carry off elephants! But it is the Fairies of Tythian who bring hope and magical promise to this strange land where troubles abound. It is here that Jade and the fairies must fight the evil druid, who is backed by an army of rocs. Author Shelly Santiago wrote this book after her husband was deployed overseas. "My mother died after my husband went to Iraq, and I didn't know what to do. I was in Germany with my children, and my best friend was no longer with me. So I started writing about Jade in another story, but I later moved him over to The Fairies of Tythian. I think the pain of life without Mom, and not knowing what would happen to my husband pushed me into wanting to live in another world. So I created one!" The Fairies of Tythian shows us that sometimes scary things happen, but good things will come in time. "In the beginning of my book, the fairies are in the middle of a bad situation, just like some of the readers." Santiago hopes her story will reach children who have lost a loved one or who have a family member in the military. "Right now people have no clue how hard it is for military families and their children." Shelly Santiago lives with her husband and three children in Dallas, Texas.
