A Pet for Captain Barnacles

Captain Barnacles wants a pet, but not a parrot; too common, he thinks. His crew helps him out, but on his treasure hunting trip, the Captain finds that his new pets create problems he did not anticipate. Captain Barnacles realizes that what he thought he valued most was more trouble than they were worth, and what he did not value was worth far more!
