Description ▲
Internet email and telemarketing are two of the fastest ways of doing business. Using the Internet, businesses attempt to lure people by offering them free items. The catch here is that prospective customers have to sign up for these offers, and in so doing have to fill out online questionnaires that ask for a whole lot of private information. This to me is a way of getting peoples' personal information for use in potential identity theft. Telemarketers do the same thing -- offering free items to lure potential customers -- but they do so via telephone calls to people. These ways of soliciting business need to be scrutinized because of what the solicitors are doing throughout the world. In addition, Internet scammers and hackers can set up websites that look legit, but which are not, in order to collect personal information. The bottom line is this: Whenever someone offers you anything for free, run from the offer. There is nothing free in the world.
