The Cross is where the mercy of God meets the misery of mankind. No matter how dark our times appear, God in His providence always appoints simple persons to be His light in the darkness. Jesus selects such simple persons as Susan and Rob Ristau so that the average layperson can identify with them and unite their sufferings to the Cross.
