Faith, Medical Alchemy and Natural Philosophy: Johann Moriaen, Reformed Intelligencer, and Hartlib Circle (History of Medicine in Context Series)

This is a fundamental reassessment of the world-view of the alchemist, natural philosophers and intelligencers of the mid-17th century. It is based mostly on the little-researched manuscript archive of Samuel Hartlib. It charts and contextualizes the personal and intellectual history of Johann Moriaen (1592-1668), a Dutch-German alchemist and natural philosopher. This study also illuminates the nature and mechanisms of intellectual and technological exchanges between Germany, the Netherlands and England.
