The affair of John Profumo and Christine Keeler in 1963 is one of the most famous and notorious episodes in the recent history of British Government. Profumo was Minister for War and the accusations included a connection with Russian diplomats and atomic secrets. This book contains the almost equally famous report of an inquiry into the matter conducted by the senior judge Lord Denning. His method of hearing evidence and assessing the priorities for understanding its relevance became themselves subject of remark. No inquiry has ever since been conducted in the same way. It is however a truly remarkable document of a fascinating time.
