City survivors: Bringing up children in disadvantaged neighbourhoods (CASE Studies on Poverty, Place and Policy)

This book focuses on raising children in troubled UK city neighborhoods, as seen through the eyes of the parents, mainly mothers. It examines the theory that where an individual lives is all important for survival. Two hundred families were studied over a seven year period in the East of London and the North, both from inner and outer city areas. The experiences documented in this book convey a powerful message from parents about the problems they want tackled, and what things would help them.
