Control of Terror and Terrorists

This book gives a fascinating and informative analysis of the challenges facing India as it comes to terms with the reality of terrorism in the modern world, particularly in relation to its often chequered history with neighboring Pakistan. The author points out that the philosophy of 'non-violence' that has permeated much of Indian political thinking since, and indeed before, Gandhi has brought great blessings to the country but also has left it weak at times in facing threats to its security. This was vividly demonstrated in the horror blasts of 2008 that wreaked havoc in Mumbai and left over 170 people dead. India has often been outmaneuvered by Pakistan in its dealings with the US and other super powers in meeting the terrorist threat. However, as the largest democracy in the world, it also presents a beacon of hope as to how mankind can work together for a better future.
