The Island of St Patrick: Church and Ruling Dynasties in Fingal and Meath, 400-1148

These papers explore themes of early Christianity in Ireland, from the introduction of the faith (popularly associated with St. Patrick) to the twelfth-century church reform. Conversion, ecclesiastical settlement, cult development and ecclesiastical organization - against a background of dynastic politics - are viewed in microcosm through focusing on the medieval kingdom of Brega (which includes Fingal and most of Co. Meath).
