Description ▲
This book presents dual boundary element formulations for two-dimensional analysis of the damage tolerance of patch-repaired stiffened panels and sheets used in aircraft. The discussion demonstrates the reliability of the formulation and covers adhesively bonded, integral and mechanically fastened stiffeners, riveted and bonded repairs consisting of single or double patches, and elastic and elastic-plastic attachment models. The author presents some new formulations to extend the application of the method to crack propagation problems that involve multiple cracks in stiffened sheets, structural repairs and lap joints. Finally, while presenting the development of an object-oriented system for the design of stiffened panels, the author examines the viability of using such formulations for damage tolerance analysis in integrated, interactive systems. In addition, an object-oriented model for such systems is presented.
