This text analyzes the nature of the coup d'etat and the conditions under which they succeed, in particular the book examines the relationship between constitutional law and coups. The book demonstrates that although coups d'etat are always taken in defiance of the law, the law can, paradoxically, provide a degree of assistance to the would-be usurpers.
