The author has concentrated on the "why" aspects of bee biology so that the reader understands "when" and "how" certain things must be done to colonies. Bees and beekeeping are explained in a manner meaningful to a person who lacks an extensive background or knowledge of biology. Yet the author has not oversimplified bee biology to the point where it is meaningless to the serious beekeeper or informed biologist.
