The Five Megilloth: Esther the Song of Songs Ruth : A New English Translation (Judaica Books of the Hagiographa-the Holy Writings)

This series, the Five scrolls, comprise the ninth and tenth volumes of the Judaica Series of the Holy Writings (Hagiographa). These small books, known as Megilloth, or scrolls, are usually printed with the Pentateuch and omitted from Prophets. This is because they play a prominent part in the liturgy, being read in the synagogue on special occasions. Esther is read on Purim, the Song of Songs on Passover, Ruth on Shavuot, Ecclesiastes on Succoth, and Lamentations on the Ninth of Av.
