Forensic evaluators face the daunting task of evaluating the long-term needs of sexually abusive youth in an attempt to predict reoffense after experiences in the criminal justice system and treatment programs. Often required to make decisions about their clients regarding risk assessment and proper placement in programs or communities, they have a responsibility to keep abreast of research regarding evaluation.

The authors offer hope and information for those who work with sexually abusive youth by suggesting assessment of treatment methods aimed at reducing risk and highlighting assessment tools that outline and explain risk and protective factors while also addressing the flaws and controversies associated with this field.
