He was eventually guided to the great Siddha, Swami Muktananda, who initiated him into the ancient lineage of Siddha Mahayoga the moment they met. This began an intense process of spiritual transformation, accompanied by a variety of yogic experiences and deep meditation.
Swamiji writes from personal experience about Shaktipat initiation, which is the transmission of the Guru's own spiritual power directly into a seeker in order to awaken the dormant Kundalini. This awakening brings about some incredible experiences, many of which Swamiji relates. Following is an excerpt:
"...I would experience a tremendous energy surging throughout my body, filling me with great joy. A variety of kriyas or spontaneous movements would also occur, including different yogic postures, various types of pranayama, and intense crying or laughing. Sometimes I would dance in ecstasy, or shout with joy. And while in deep meditation, I would often hear, or see, poetic verses within the inner sky of consciousness. These were all the play of the divine inner Shakti."
