Issues, Evidence, and You

The seventh grade science program is based on the National Science Foundation supported "Issues, Evidence, and You," a middle school science program written by the Lawrence Hall of Science, University of California at Berkeley, as part of SEPUP, Science Education for Public Understanding Program. This program provides experiences in making evidence-based decisions about personal, community-based, and global issues. It promotes the use of scientific principles, processes, and evidence in public decision-making, and helps individuals more effectively make their own decisions as contributing members of a democratic society. Middle school students are at an age in which many important, long-term decisions are made that affect their individual health, and it is hoped that experience in evidence-based decision making will help them make wise choices.
