Growing Up in the Valley

A collection of true stories -- sometimes sad, often hilarious -- from the life of author George Holmes as he grew up in Scranton, Pennsylvania, during the 1940s and 1950s. Holmes recounts stories of mischievous children and unsuspecting aunts, coal mining tragedies and falling in love at a high school dance. This memoir is both a look back in time and a look into the mind of a child who later would become a respected psychologist.
